System of arrangementSome preliminary listing had been carried out by a member of staff from Belden. However, no copy of the list exists, and it was possible only to retain the original order for sub-series 2005.108/1/1 and 2005.108/1/2. The remaining records have been divided into 3 series:
YA2005.108/1 The records of Connollys (Blackley) Ltd. This covers the records of the company from its creation as Connolly Brothers in 1895 to its merger into the BICC group in 1975.
YA2005.108/2 The records of British Insulated Callender's Cables Ltd. The company was named British Insulated Cables until its merger in 1945 with Callender's Cable & Construction Co. Ltd. and was then renamed British Insulated Callender's Cables Ltd (or BICC). BICC had a number of subsidiary companies (including Connollys (Blackley) Ltd) and this series also covers pre 1975 records which apply to the whole Group, such as the Consolidated Accounts (YA2005.108/2/2/1). Occasionally the distinction between series 1 and 2 is blurred, as there was a lot of correspondence between the two companies. In such cases, files have been placed in either series depending on the majority of their content.
YA2005.108/3 The records of BICC Ltd, reflecting the business after its reorganisation in 1975.
